Mens Captain - Darren Cook
I would like to start by thanking you for re-electing me as Captain of Barrow Hills for the forthcoming year; I am truly honoured to be given the role. I’ve been a member of Barrow Hills for six years and can honestly say I’ve enjoyed every minute (when I’m playing well that is)! I have known five Captains since I have been here and would like to thank them all for their hard work and I will continue along the same lines. I am looking forward to working alongside my Vice Captain – Steve King; the Lady Captain – Tracy Emms and all the other Committee members.
I’m sure during the forthcoming year there will be some course closures enforced by our landlords – Crest Nicholson – but I’m sure you’ll agree with me when I say for an annual membership fee of £150 this is fantastic value for money. The competitions are always good fun and hopefully, next year, we will see some new members playing in them alongside our long-established participants.
To quote the phrase “Charity Begins At Home” my chosen charity again this year will be Barrow Hills Golf Club. I’d like to briefly explain to you why – after much discussion with our course maintenance and improvements advisor and the green keepers we would like to purchase the materials needed to improve the tee blocks. The estimated cost is approximately £1,000 so please given generously and together we will have a better course than we have already. Details of how to contribute are in the clubhouse.
Additionally we play three charity competitions during the year namely; The White Lodge Centre for handicapped children, the RNLI and Marie Curie. All monies collected on these days are sent direct to these worth causes.
If you ever want to contact me with any questions or suggestions please don’t hesitate, my contact details are: 07767 830 745;

Happy Golfing!
Ladies Captain - Tracy EmmsI am very pleased to be appointed Ladies Captain. I have been a member of Barrow Hills for many years and an active member of the Ladies Section since I joined the Club. The Ladies Section at Barrow Hills is a small but fun and friendly environment in which to play golf, whatever your standard of play, and all lady members at Barrow Hills are welcome to join us. We have just started our Eclectic Competition which runs throughout the winter and is ideal as the weather gets colder as we only play 9 holes before a well earned cup of tea in the clubhouse. In the summer we play a mixture of stableford games and Monthly Medals with points being awarded to each player which goes towards the Emms Cup. We also have an inter-club match and a few fun games as well as joining in with some of the main Club competitions. The dates we play are on the website so please come along and join us, get some fresh air and hopefully play some good golf!
